Citadel of Salah Al-Din

August 24, 2010

Visiting the Citadel of Salah Al-Din was an unexpected bonus on our trip to Egypt. We were glad to have visited. Andrew filled us in on how important this fellow was against Richard the Lion-hearted. Speaking of lions, how about those awesome lion gargoyle statues, eh eh?! I thought they were pretty sweet with their toothy growls, Andrew can be a nice lion too, especially when he yawns…

I was sorry that my pictures of the inside of the Citadel didn’t turn out well.  The lighting wasn’t very good and everything turned out very dark and, for some unfathomable reason, orange.  We had to take our shoes off inside, and as you might catch in one of the above pictures, if your dress wasn’t quite appropriate for treading on this sacred ground, you got to wear a green tent. Lovely isn’t it

Hooray!  I just realized that those were the last pictures I took in Egypt.  If you like to read and want to know more about the places we visited, I posted the e-mail I wrote to my mom here.
