Church of the Holy Sepulchre

September 2, 2011

It’s getting to the point where I’m not remembering as well as I should all the cool stuff we saw and learned while in Israel. I do remember, however, that Andrew insisted on coming to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre because of its historical significance and veneration by Christians. From about the fourth century it is where people pilgrimmaged to because they believe it is the site of Golgotha and the crucifixion, as well as the place where Christ will be resurrected in the final days.

as always, pictures of the architecture and mosaics

It's the spirit!

I’m glad I was able to get this picture with the light coming in like that through the rotunda of the dome.

Of course that’s why it was made that way.
