We attended church in The Holy Land

September 6, 2011

Our last Sunday in Jerusalem we visited the BYU Jerusalem Center where a limited number of students have been given the opportunity to live and study in The Holy Land. Their studies include the languages Hebrew and Arabic, Old and New Testament, and as the name implies: Near Eastern studies. We attended our meeting while overlooking the city. It was a little distracting with such a view. I would have taken a picture, but we were in church. The organ was a little different in this chapel as well. The wikipedia site on this subject has a good picture of the pipes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen organ pipes horizontal like that before, but it made just as lovely a sound, in fact I think it was a little unique. There are often organ concerts given, if I’m remembering correctly. It was pleasant to have a little bit of familiarity having been so long from home.
